I don't even know where to begin well let's start from when i had to wake up at 2:30 am, well it was one exciting morning we flew to costa rica and got there at around 2 i think we got on a bus because where we were staying was a few hours away from the one city in costa rica.
I knew this trip would change my life but i didn't know how quickly it would just driving by the homes and the people i could i see how happy they were just sitting talking to one another and how americans always like to be on the go all the time but they were always relaxed. now when we got to the place we were staying it was dark it was kinda a farm that's what we called it. we all were super tired but, i noticed there was this 11 year old boy who was very shy and didn't speak any english while, we were eating dinner he sat in the corner . so it was now sunday morning we were on our way to church and i saw the boy in the back of the bus so i went to go set next to him. let me tell you its not eazy starting a conversation when you don't speak the same languages! but, i tried my hardest to and we talked a few sentences but it was mostly pictanira. he sat next to us at the 2 1/2 hour church service in costa rica they don't do time starting or ending they just go until they want to be now all of its in spanish.
then after church we went to a hot spring and we talked some more while we were on the way but we went swimming and eat dinner there so it became dark we started to all play/talk and we were all so tired we could barely keep our eyes open but i was still sitting next to favio that's the boys name ,and we started listening to american music which he had never heard before he found it slow because all their music is very upbeat so his eyes kept closing and he leaned his head on my shoulder. that's when i knew it was going to be so hard to leave this country. even though we didn't speak the same languages we are best friend .
so monday is when we started getting everything for the women's studies and Vacation Bible Study aka VBS. and favios mom works on the farm so he was with us all the time but, once we were done getting stuff ready we all went swimming at a creak it was very tropical there was colorful frogs and we all went swimming then we played soccer and played uno the game we didn't even have to speak the same langues.
Then on tuesday that's when we started VBS and the woman studies. when some kids walked into the church it didn't really hit me how hard it would be to bond with the kids ,they were so scared of all of us but we started playing games and singing it was really hard to get them to be upbeat and just have fun they just wouldn't budge in a way. but on wednesday we went to this ladies house to do VBS and the woman. it was a porch and a little yard that we had so we played with all kids and they were all so happy for us to be there and playful it was just in a neighborhood and all the kids came anyway this is going on awhile when we gave them food they acted like they hadn't had food in days. so we did this for while now to the last day everybody said it would be hard but after everyone gave what they learned from the trip and i didn't cry at all i was sad though until we came up the steps and see favio crying and our group that we hung out with the whole week just came over and gave him a hug and the all of us started to cry we went over to the bus and all said goodbye then favio started to walk away but he kept turning around to see if we had left yet but it took us awhile to leave then he waited but he couldn't take watching us drive away so he left. it was one of the hardest things to come home but, i had to but i'm looking forward to next year!!!
